Kinematic Optimization of Energy Extraction Efficiency for Flapping Airfoil by using Response Surface Method and Genetic Algorithm

In this paper, numerical simulations have been performed to study the performance of a single fully activated flapping wing serving as energy harvester. The aims paper are predicting and maximizing extraction efficiency by using optimization methodology. metamodeling genetic algorithms applied in order find optimal configuration improving efficiency. A response surface method (RSM) based on Box–Behnken experimental design algorithm has chosen solve problem. Three factors manipulated, i.e. dimensionless heaving amplitude h0, pitching θ0 frequency f. ANSYS FLUENT 14 commercial software used compute governing flow equations at Reynolds number 1100, while movement combined from NACA0015 foil carried out an house user-defined function (UDF). maximum predicted 34.02% obtained with high accuracy kinematic around chord, low 0.304 hertz. Results also showed that interaction effect between is important quadratic strong confirming great potential
